Larissa Severson

My goal as a counselor is to support the emotional and personal growth of our community in a safe, accessible environment. Individuality and accessibility to healthcare are important qualities that fit with my values both within and outside of the counseling profession. My counseling style embraces acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing, with person-centered, feminist and multicultural perspectives, focusing on lifting up voices of those who historically have not felt heard. I am an empathetic, patient listener and I believe strongly that my role as a counselor is to give my client as much safe space as they need to process whatever their current situation is.

My education in counseling and nutrition puts me in a unique position for providing comprehensive care for issues around eating, body image, and digestive health, while also being able to focus on nutrition-specific or psychology-specific concerns, such as anxiety, depression and other developmental matters. I believe that counseling is helpful at all stages of the lifespan, so I look forward to working with children, couples, families, and individual adults. I believe that health is integrated and that we can best serve our community when disciplines come together to be of service.
